Ocean Tales: Films for World Water Day

Water makes up around 71% of the Earth’s surface. It links together everything in the world. 22 March marks World Water Day. Here are five short films exploring its impact on us as humans – whilst highlighting how plastic waste is threatening ocean health.

The Beauty

Pascal Schelbli takes us on a poetic journey through the oceans, which are simultaneously stunning and filthy. This film plunges viewers into the mysterious depths of a polluted blue sea – where whales become plastic bottles and fish are made from bubble wrap. Watch Film

A stop motion fairy tale in which Derek, an aquatic creature, tries to win the heart of Tootega, an isolated sea-witch living on an iceberg adrift in the ocean. Adrienne Douley’s animation highlights the imaginative power of underwater landscapes.Watch Film
