Day Two is here! A big thank you to everyone who took part in our opening day events yesterday. We are looking forward to another day of bold masterclasses, the opening of the UNESCO EXPO, inspiring film screenings, and networking opportunities for you to meet and connect with other creatives. Today’s Spotlight Genre: Drama

Immerse yourself in compelling narratives filled with intense emotions and complex characters – you might even spot some famous faces on screen. These shorts explore themes of identity, resilience and conflict within human relationships, and look at love in its many forms. Drama is just one of many genres represented by the 300 short films in this year’s Official Selection at Aesthetica Film Festival. 
To attend screenings, a valid festival pass is required. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Top Masterclasses

This morning, meet the Heads of Development from the UK’s leading production companies at Yorkshire Museum. Then, head over to York Theatre Royal at 13:00 to hear essential screenwriting insights from Peter Straughan (Conclave; Tinker, Tailor Soldier, Spy). Today’s stellar masterclass programme also includes talks the likes of Ridley Scott Assoicates, Ubisoft and Framestore – as well as secrets from programmers and BAFTA and Oscar-Winning alumni.

The Dodge Brothers bring their acclaimed live score to silent film Beggars of Life (1928) a landmark American silent film. Renowned film critic Mark Kermode is on double bass and harmonica and joined by acclaimed accompanist Neil Brand. Performing at Glastonbury, Latitude, or on screen, The Dodge Brothers have built a cult following for their foot-stomping sound.
