Cinema screenings and a huge selection of live events – including masterclasses, workshops, social events and more – will take place 4-8 November across a number of venues. How to Book Your Pass
In-Person Tickets
Come and join us in York. Visit our historic venues and experience film how it was intended – on the big screen, as part of a community. These tickets are valid in-venue from 4-8 November only. You can attend as many film screenings as you’d like, plus masterclasses and events, although you should pre-register for these in advance. Passes are available for one day, two days or the full five days. Single Screening tickets are available, valid for one film screening only. After purchasing on our website, you’ll receive an online receipt via email. This should be exchanged for a physical ticket or lanyard at the Hub Desk (City Screen Picturehouse, York, YO1 9QL) on arrival at the festival. The desk is open between 4-8 November, 09:30 - 18:00.

How to Reserve Your Place
Booking Events
Pre-registration is required for masterclasses, VR and Games Labs, workshops, plus some social and networking events. Most events are free-to-attend with a valid pass, but a registration must be made via our website to secure your place. Screenings do not require pre-booking. These are operated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ratings and Warnings
Films are U, PG, 12A or 15, but some may be 18. All screenings suitable for children aged under 12 will be classified as Family Friendly. Our ratings are guidelines only and, as such, parental guidance is advised across all programmes. Some films contain themes viewers may find upsetting or distressing. Trigger Warnings will be clearly indicated on each film listing in our programme.

- In-Person Passes grant access to screenings, masterclasses and events at the festival in York. Purchase here.
- Single Screening Passes are valid for one in-person screening only, and can be purchased here.
- All passes can be purchased at asff.co.uk/tickets or on the day at the Hub Desk.
- If you book online, your In-Person Pass or Single Screening Ticket receipt must be exchanged for a paper ticket / lanyard at the Hub Desk (City Screen Picturehouse, York, YO1 9QL) between 4-8 November 09:30 – 18:00. Staff will be on-hand to answer your questions.
- For masterclasses, VR and Games Labs, workshops, plus some social and networking events, pre-registration should be made here in order to secure your place. Most events are free-to-attend with a pass, but bookings should be made and your pass must be valid on the day of the event. You will be required to submit a receipt number to pre-book.
- Screenings do not require pre-booking. These are operated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Please note: the Opening Night Ceremony is a separate ticketed event. Purchase here.
- The UNESCO City of Media Arts Expo is open to all. It is a multi-day showcase that is celebrating the creative industries based right across the region. The companies span design, film, games and TV.
- The New Music Stage, at York Theatre Royal, is a separate ticketed event. However, your Festival Pass allows you entry for free.
- Our Kids’ Workshops are separate ticketed events. Purchase here.
