Dr Gabrielle Barkess-Kerr
Dr Gabrielle Barkess-Kerr is an academic, anthropologist and curator specialising in Contemporary Art Theory, Anthropology, and Curation, with a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Durham. Currently a Teaching Fellow at Edinburgh College of Art, she combines her academic expertise with hands-on curatorial experience, exploring the intersection of art, anthropology, and contemporary practice. Gabrielle’s curatorial work spans exhibitions, art films, and public programming, developing innovative concepts, managing multimedia projects, and engaging diverse audiences. Her multidisciplinary approach, working across academia and the creative industries, has led her to collaborate with artists and institutions to deliver projects that are both artistically ambitious and culturally impactful.
