ASFF is an annual BAFTA-Qualifying film festival held in York, UK. Now in its 9th year, ASFF is one of the leading festivals and a landmark cultural event for film fans around the world. Acting as an important hub for industry practitioners, the festival is also a dedicated platform for filmmakers to screen their work, make new connections and establish long lasting collaborations.

About ASFF

    About the Festival

  • In 2018, we screened nearly 500 films as part of our Official Selection, Guest Programmes, Showcase Screenings, Feature Programmes and our new Screen School VR Lab, in partnership with London College of Communication.
  • Our Official Selection featured five films shortlisted for the 2019 Academy Awards and a further three BAFTA nominations.
  • ASFF prides itself on being an industry-led festival, attracting a large audience of visiting filmmakers. Part of our outreach includes masterclasses, daily networking opportunities and social events. Last year we featured over 100 events, including 32 masterclasses with representatives from Aardman Animation, Framestore, Industrial Light & Magic, BBC Writers Room, Film4, Pinewood Studios, British Vogue and StudioCanal, to name just a few.
  • ASFF operates under the umbrella of Aesthetica Magazine – a leading arts and culture publication with an audience of 370,000 worldwide across print and digital. Combining dynamic content with compelling features and striking visuals, the magazine engages with the best in contemporary art and culture.

  • Last year, ASFF received 25,000 admissions across the five days. Our print and onscreen advertising opportunities offer great potential to reach a large, targeted audience both in the UK and internationally.
  • 20,000 programmes are distributed across print and digital with a readership upwards of 60,000. It is a beautifully designed A5 publication, with great care given to imagery, copy and styling.


Print Advertising

ASFF offers a number of advertising spots in print, digital and on-screen placement. Published and distributed from September, advertising with us offers high visibility in the run up to the busy Christmas period and access to a targeted audience.

There are a number of advertising slots available within the ASFF programme:

Print and digital advertisers also have the opportunity to include promotions or products in our VIP delegate bags (350 in total) which are distributed to industry delegates and guest speakers.

Holding Card Advertising

On-Screen Advertising: Holding Cards

In addition to print placement, we also have on-screen advertising opportunities available.

Holding cards are still images or silent moving image advertisements played in a looped two-minute cycle in-between screenings. Holding adverts are on-screen for 10 seconds, showing before and after each of our 300 screenings. In total, each holding card would be screened 4,500 times across the five days. This is a great chance to engage with audiences as they fill screening spaces.

Advertisers who book on-screen holding card placement also receive:

  • A full-page advert in the printed and digital programme (worth £995)
  • A web banner placement on the Aesthetica site (102,000 visits per month)
  • Logo placement on sponsor board in print and online
  • Logo placement at the end of all 300 screenings across the festival
  • Sponsor profile on the ASFF website (www.asff.co.uk)
  • Social media engagements across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Product or promotional placement in our VIP delegate bags (350 distributed)

Festival Trailer

On-Screen Advertising: Festival Trailer

Trailer advertisements are 15 second videos with audio that screen before each of our 300 screenings across the five days of the festival, including the opening night ceremony. The adverts follow the ASFF ident and screen once the light have been dimmed in the screening venue, guaranteeing full audience attention.

Advertisers who book pre-screening advertising package also receive:

  • A full-page advert in the printed and digital programme (worth £995)
  • A web banner placement on the Aesthetica site (102,000 visits per month)
  • An additional 10 second holding card placement (worth £1,995)
  • Logo placement on sponsor board in print and online
  • Logo placement at the end of all 300 screenings across the festival
  • Sponsor profile on the ASFF website (www.asff.co.uk)
  • Social media engagements across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

  1. VAT of 20% is added on to all EU bookings
  2. All artwork is held at the owner’s risk
  3. Aesthetica is not liable for any loss or damage from errors, late publication or non-publication
  4. Space reserved must be paid in full where the advertisement is not published due to an act or omission by the advertiser
  5. Payment terms are strictly 30 days
