Weeds is a metaphorical story about a lone dandelion who struggles to get away from a dry, barren yard to the other side, where the grass is greener and there is hope for a better life. It’s story of triumph in the face of overwhelming situational borders is at the heart of the film’s themes on empathy and immigration. Director Kevin Hudson stated, “If we can make them feel empathy for something as tiny as a little dandelion, then perhaps we can make them feel more for their fellow human beings.” Voted Best Animation at the British Animation Film Festival 2018, Best Animated Short Film at the Hollywood Short Film Festival 2018 and Best Animated Film at the Sedona International Film Festival 2018.
