Dark fears and high hopes drive a young competitive diver as she faces the ten-etre platform. Somersault Pike takes viewers from the top of the jump to the eventual plunge. Director Kate Lefoe makes expert use of slow motion cinematography to generate an immense amount of suspense and tension, as the competitive diver faces new challenges. The absence of dialogue in the short film, Somersault Pike, allows to audience to feel the diver’s raw, turbulent array of emotion, as she attempts to surmount the fear of facing new heights. Lefoe was awarded best direction, for Somersault Pike, at the Wordless International Film Festival, 2017 amongst many prestigious awards the film has thus far received.
