Official Selection 2019: Narrative Feature

Joining the Feature-length screenings for the second year are Narrative films, across a range of genres and styles. Our awards-winning filmmakers offer new experiments in the realm of visual storytelling, creative progressive landscapes and insightful glimpses into adjacent worlds. Familiar tropes of love, loss, crisis and redemption are retold.

Pause directed by Tonia Mishiali is a Cyprus/Greece co-production which had its world premiere at the 53rd Karlovy Vary International Festival. It has won seven awards so far. In a desperate attempt to escape from the misery of an ongoing loveless marriage, Elpida finds refuge in a fantasy world of vindictive violence. Soon, reality and fantasy start to blur and the lines in between worlds become crossed.

Pause will be screening as part of Narrative Feature 4. It will be shown on Saturday 9 November in Everyman Cinema (13:30-15:00).
