Official Selection 2019: Documentary

The culturally rich and eye-opening screenings of the Documentary category move beyond the parameters of public spaces, entering private realms and sparking dialogues with a range of timely topics such as unemployment, immigration and national disaster.

Manus, directed by Angus McDonald, tells the story of hundreds of asylum seekers detained by the Australian Government on Manus Island in PNG for six years. This touching documentary uses footage by award-winning journalist Olivia Rousset.

Manus will be screening as part of Documentary 4: Begin Again. It will be shown on Wednesday 6 November at 1331 (21:30-23:00); Thursday 7 November at the Yorkshire Museum (10:30-12:00); Saturday 9 November at the NCEM (16:45-18:15) and Sunday 10 November at 1331 (20:00-21:30).
