Hot on the platform heels of David Bowie is Happening Now, this week sees the release of Morrisey 25 Live, James Russell’s feature film that celebrates 25 years of the cult icon’s prolific solo career. As Morrisey’s first live documentary since 2005’s Who put the M in Manchester, Morrisey 25 Live promises cinema audiences a rare and intimate insight into the infamous “Oscar Wilde of pop”.
In 2013, a year marred by ill-health and cancelled shows, Morrisey 25 Live joins the singer on the penultimate slot of his American tour. Filmed in the 1,800 capacity auditorium of Hollywood High School, tickets for this performance sold out in just 12 seconds. Produced in close collaboration with the artist himself, the film weaves together performance footage with tributes from fans and performers alike, drawing together the highlights from the musician’s remarkable and eclectic career.
Featuring Meat is Murder and other cult classics such as; Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want; Irish Blood and The Boy With The Thorn In His Side.
Showing in cinemas across the UK from 24 August. More info at www.morrissey25live.com.
