Family Friendly Selection at ASFF 2013

It is less than a week until the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) opens to the public. The international short film festival features over 300 films from 36 different countries. The screening programme covers the genres of experimental, artist’s film, music video, comedy, drama, documentary, thriller and animation. Accessible to all, this year we are running a special family friendly programme, highlighting the best of the child-friendly films in the festival.

Film can be appreciated by all ages from a very early age, and the family friendly programme offers a unique opportunity to younger guests, allowing them to enjoy the wonders of cinema in a new context. Although children may be familiar with watching TV at home this is a great chance for them to get exposure to some of the best independent film releases around. The selected releases are also interesting for an older audience as they reflect the innovation involved in the production process. The various screenings will be in range of beautiful venues including Bedern Hall, St William’s College, King’s Manor, Barley Hall, Mansion House and According to McGee, allowing the whole family to experience the historic elements of York.

York also offers a number of wonderful attractions in between screenings, including Jorvik, Castle Museum and York’s Sweet Story, besides the many tea shops and beautiful gift shops across the city.
