ASFF 2019: Day Five

Today marks the end of ASFF. It is the last opportunity to see the screenings on offer and to discover all of the grand and historic venues of the festival. Here is a round up of the key events happening today.

Screenings

Videotheque (Explore York; 11:00-15:00)

If you’ve missed a screening you wanted to see during the festival, pop in the videotheque where you can watch all the films screened at ASFF on a computer.

Screen School VR Lab – 360 Cinema & Immersive Experiences (York Theatre Royal and De Grey Rooms; 10:00-18:00)

Here is your opportunity to explore some of the most immersive games and experiences on the film festival circuit. Tickets are available to book on a first-come, first-served basis from the Festival Hub and are released daily.

Special Events

Filmmakers Insights – Independent Filmmaking: Working Within Your Budget ( York Theatre Royal; 11:00-12:00)

Attending directors and producers discuss their methods of working within a tight budget, without compromising on the story or quality of their films. Free with a Festival Pass.

VR Panel Discussion – Beyond Entertainment: The Potential of VR (York Theatre Royal; 14:30-15:30)

How can VR and 360 Technologies be developed for positive implementation across medical care, rehabilitation, education and beyond? Will VR be applied to more destructive means such as military use, or will it be used for further surveillance in a security conscious world? Free With Festival Pass.

Social Events

Networking Session 7 – Last Chance Encounters: ASFF Industry Networking (York Theatre Royal; 12:30-14:00)

As ASFF draws to a close, there is still an opportunity to make some important connections. If you’re just joining us for the day or if you’ve attended all of the sessions, this is a great place to seek out those all-too important relationships that film festivals nurture.

Awards Ceremony (Yorkshire Museum; 16:30-17:30)

The Festival Winner, Hijack Visionary Filmmaker Award, Film Hub North Polaris Award, winners from each genre, People’s Choice and the Youth Award winner will all be announced, alongside industry delegates. Each guest receives a free drink, courtesy of Brew York and York Gin. Doors open at 16:00

Wrap Party (1331; 19:00-Late)

The Wrap Party is free with a Festival Pass.
