Shot in France over one week, Stillness Arises by Benjamin Dowie provides an insight into the mind of French adventurer and filmmaker, Mathieu Le Lay, as he journeys across the French Alps near Annecy and explores his hometown of Brittany. This intimate documentary delves deep into Le Lay’s connection with nature and the wild, and features words inspired Eckhart Tolle’s Stillness Speaks, and writings from Wayne Dyer and Albert Espinosa.
The everyday trials and discoveries of life around the world are vividly brought to the screen in a series of documentary shorts that challenge our perceptions of social, economic and environmental situations. For its 5th anniversary edition, ASFF screens a wealth of international documentary works across seven reels throughout the four-day festival.
