Advertising Strand at BAFTA-Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival: Entries

In 2014 ASFF welcomed the new, ground-breaking categories of fashion and advertising to its growing short film programme. Shorts presented in the advertising strand showcased innovative talent from companies such as Partizan and Solab, and highlighted the progression of the advertising medium into its own art form. The films selected for the programme offered an exploration into the creative and cinematic techniques currently being used in commercials today.

Last year’s advertising strand was accompanied by talks from Sara Wilson, Photography Director at Jigsaw, and a selection of filmmakers at Ridley Scott Associates. The prize for Best Advertising at ASFF 2014 was awarded to Ben Marshall’s The Director’s Project – a film produced by Jigsaw. For the company’s AW14 fashion shoot, Jigsaw looked to the film industry. Marshall’s insightful short follows the working process of acclaimed film director Francesca Gregorini and inspirational cinematographer Polly Morgan.

Entries are open for the festival’s fifth edition. ASFF welcomes short films up to 30 minutes long by international emerging and established filmmakers. The categories are varied and include: advertising, animation, artists’ film, comedy, dance, documentary, drama, experimental, fashion, music video and thriller. ASFF 2015 will take place from 5-8 November 2015.
