After a successful 5th anniversary in November, we’re gearing up for ASFF 2016 which will take place in York from 3 to 6 November. Speakers have already been confirmed for the ever-popular masterclass series, including representatives from Domino Publishing (Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, The Kills, Animal Collective) and Cowboy Films (Last King of Scotland, Black Sea, Bill, How I Live Now) among many more.

ASFF 2016 will return with numerous networking sessions, parties and Meet the Film Festivals –a unique opportunity to connect with festival programmers from around the world and exchange ideas and best practice. This year, the festival screened over 300 films from 49 countries. The programme will be back in 2016 with a wide range of genres, from drama, documentary and comedy to advertising, fashion and artists’ film plus much more, offering a platform for filmmakers to reach a wider audience and for festival-goers to discover outstanding independent cinema.

The 6th edition of ASFF is now open for entries, and is accepting short films with a running time of up to 30 minutes. Prizes include screenings at BAFTA Qualifying ASFF 2016, screenings at other festivals and events, eligibility to enter the EE British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs), awards for Best of Fest, People’s Choice and Best of Category, editorial in Aesthetica Magazine and more.

ASFF is a unique and must-attend industry event. It is also a festival of discovery, and invites audiences to explore the city of York, journeying to 15 distinct and iconic venues for screenings and masterclasses to experience new cinema from across the world and develop a greater understanding of film.
