The Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2014 is now open for entries, accepting submissions in all genres. Now in its fourth year, the festival offers both emerging and established filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their films to new, international audiences in a range of stunning locations across the historic city of York every November. In addition to screenings at the festival, there are prizes for each category winner as well as £500 for the Festival Winner, £250 for the People’s Choice Winner, screenings at a number of other UK festivals and editorial in Aesthetica Magazine.
An ever popular category with festival goers is comedy, and the 2013 edition was no exception. Last year comedy screenings largely took place in Brandy Brown’s Little Cinema, a luxury cinema tucked away in Thirteen Thirty One bar and bistro. This unique location provided a relaxed atmosphere for fans of the genre to enjoy a variety of screenings alongside food and drink from the bar below.
Ranging from the wickedly macabre to the wonderfully absurd, we take a look at some of our favourite comedies from last year to inspire your own submissions and get in you in the mood for ASFF 2014.
