Liberated Society

Writer and director Sean Baker’s fashion film Snowbird screened at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in 2016. Commissioned by KENZO, it traces the journey of a young woman named ‘Young Theo’ as she shares her home-made cake with the fellow-inhabitants of an off-the-grid desert community. With a run-time of nearly 12 minutes, the film shows the vivid print details of KENZO’s Spring-Summer 2016 collection designed by Creative Directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim.

Starring Abbey Lee (known for her role in blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road), Snowbird marries high fashion with a non-conformist community living on the outskirts of modern society. Creative and innovative as ever, acclaimed director Baker filmed the entire short on an iPhone. Fashion film at ASFF question the very concepts of fashion and aesthetics in today’s world, crossing the boundaries of reality and reaching past the seeming possibilities of design.
