Leon 20th Anniversary Special Edition

In celebration of Luc Besson’s Leon, StudioCanal is releasing a special edition Blu-Ray version of the iconic film. Including new exclusive interviews with actor Jean Reno, who plays Leon, and composer Eric Serra, the one disk Blu-ray offers a new insight into the work several years after its release. The new edition also features both the Director’s and Theatrical cut.

Starring Jean Reno (Mission Impossible, Ronin), Gary Oldman (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Dark Knight Rises) and Natalie Portman (Black Swan, V for Vendetta), the 1994 action-thriller was highly influential and remains so today. Portman took on the starring role of 12-year-old Mathilda and shot to fame afterwards, going on to win an Oscar for her role in Black Swan.

Directed by Luc Besson (Subway, The Big Blue, Nikita, The Fifth Element), Leon is both controversial and unforgettable, following the story of an unlikely friendship within a brutal and violent world. The narrative traces the life of Mathilda, who, on returning from a shopping trip, finds that her abusive, dysfunctional family (and her younger brother) have been slaughtered by a psychotic, drug dealing police officer. Consequently she takes refuge with her mysterious and solitary neighbour, Leon, who happens to be one of the world’s deadliest assassins. Over time, Mathilda begins to teach him how to live, while Leon teaches her how to kill. The award-winning film now stands as a classic film, just as accessible and thrilling today as it was 20 years ago.
