Fashion Film: Impossible Love, Soo Joo Park

The deadline for ASFF 2014 has been extended until Monday. For the first time this year we open a Fashion Film strand, showcasing the very best in stylish filmmaking. We take a look at Vs. Magazine’s collaboration with Soo Joo Park to produce a fashion short, Impossible Love. The dark side of desire emerges in this glamorous and seductive film directed by Jenna Elizabeth. Showcasing clothes from Morris Janks’ Autumn/Winter 2014 collection, the work is full of mystery and intrigue, highlighting the fantastic film direction currently enhancing the work of fashion designers.

In Impossible Love Soo Joo Park, a unique and beautiful model, falls for an equally dazzling statue. The fashion short plays on the elusive, the unattainable and how it can haunt us and even lead to our own destruction. Elizabeth’s direction is aided by Jakob F.S’s artistic vision and the pair of them have produced an intense work that outlines the minimalist form of Janks’ collection and the quiet beauty of Park.

ASFF has opened a Fashion Film strand to offer opportunities to short filmmakers shooting with fashion in mind. The new series is a celebration of the unique impact the clothing industry has had upon filmmaking and the innovative directors coming up with increasingly creative ways to present new collections. Already an established and dynamic player on the UK film festival circuit, ASFF is a celebration of independent film from across the world, and an outlet for championing and supporting short filmmaking.
