Alexander Thomas’ (Urban Edge Films) 2015 short Beverley screened in the Drama strand at the BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival in 2015. Beverley, set in Leicester in 1980, follows a mixed-race girl’s struggle to carve out a sense of identity in a confusing, shifting cultural landscape before the dawn of multiculturalism.
Entries are open for ASFF’s sixth edition, and we are looking for filmmakers who are driving the genre of short film forward through inspirational and innovative works. Whether you are an established or emerging practitioner, we want to hear from you. The Official Selection of films will be shown in 15 venues across the City of York from 3 to 6 November 2016. There will be additional prizes for Best Film in each category and the People’s Choice winner.
