This year’s Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) returns with two new additional strands: Fashion and Advertising. Also accepting films in the genres of animation, artists’ film, comedy, documentary, drama, experimental, music video and thriller, ASFF 2014 is dynamic platform to showcase works to a vast audience of film lovers, filmmakers, industry professionals and visitors that travel from around the world to experience the diversity of films.
ASFF 2014 takes place from 6 – 9 November in York, UK. It is a city-wide, and site-specific event that sees cinema spaces emerge across the city – inviting audiences to experience iconic places in a new light as well as explore the hidden gems of the historic milieu including York’s famous snickleways and medieval banquet halls.
It is a unique short film festival that presents a great opportunity for filmmakers, whether they are fresh out of film school or have been making films for years. Using boutique to mainstream cinemas around York, the festival screens the official selection of films across the four-day event drawing in visitors locally, nationally and internationally.
Working with leading film organisations such as BAFTA, Film 4, Beggars Group, Warp Films, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Raindance and more, the festival is also a hub for some of the biggest personalities in the film industry today. Through masterclasses, panel discussions, hosted networking sessions and parties, filmmakers and festival-goers are jointly invited to engage with these leaders in the film world, and learn from their expertise in filmmaking practice from producing and editing to directing, acting and screenwriting.
There is also a great selection of prizes available for films entered into the festival, and all films selected for screened are in competition for a number of category awards.
