Last night’s Meet the Filmmakers event was a brilliant opportunity to gain insight into some of the films screening at this year’s Aesthetica Short Film Festival.
A panel of filmmakers were invited to talk about their films and answer questions from the audience. Compered by Tony Earnshaw, film critic for the Yorkshire Post, there were some fantastic questions and revealing answers from the filmmakers. Panellists included Emma E. Maclennan, who directed the dramatic Air (2013), Tamara Hahn, director of thriller Gnosis (2013), and Graeme Cox, the producer behind Girl Power (2014) featuring Alice Lowe (Sightseers, 2012). Louis Lagayette (For His Sake, 2014), Clément Oberto (Matin Lunaire, 2014) and Jérémi Durand (Apple Jelly://Control//, 2014) were also on the panel and provided intriguing insights into the worlds of music video and fashion.
Set inside the historic Yorkshire Museum, one of the longest established museums in England, the event offered yet another opportunity to see inside York’s collection of Grade I and II listed buildings. Other venues have included the first house given to the National Trust, Treasurer’s House, the medieval King’s Manor and the Art Deco Reel Cinema.
