Discover the Artists’ Film Strand at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival

With just two weeks to go until the 5th anniversary edition of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival opens, we explore the vibrant and arrestingly offbeat Artist’s Film strand at ASFF 2015. Artists’ film defies the boundaries of both visual art and film to offer a wonderfully bold yet considered reflection on life’s subtleties. In our selection, imagination and technique combine in their purest forms to explore the potential of film as a medium of unlimited possibilities. Take a leap into the artist’s hands and wander the creative cosmos with an array of poetic narratives and abstract excursions through the moving image.

ASFF 2015’s selection of Artists’ Film includes renowned multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood’s Towards the Possible Film (Film and Video Umbrella, UK / Morocco, 2014), which operates between the real, the surreal, the past and present. It is a study in parallel universes, and the sparks that fly when worlds collide. Read our review of the film at www.asff.co.uk.

Watch Towards the Possible Film in the Artists’ Film strand, Reel 3 at ASFF, 5-8 November, at venues across York.
